POPE LEO @ 1: AUGUSTINIAN, PASTORAL, PROPHETIC
Villanova University will host a panel discussion, “Pope Leo @ One: Augustinian, Pastoral, Prophetic” on Tuesday, April 28, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Villanova Room of the Connelly Center. Marking the first anniversary of Pope Leo XIV’s election, the event will explore the early direction of his papacy through the lens of Villanova’s Augustinian Catholic tradition, with a focus on pastoral leadership, prophetic witness and engagement with the global Church.
ADELA DWYER–ST. THOMAS OF VILLANOVA PEACE AWARD
The Adela Dwyer–St. Thomas of Villanova Peace Award recognizes an individual or group for outstanding contributions to the understanding of the meaning and conditions of justice and peace in human communities.
MOTHER MARY LANGE LECTURE
The Mother Mary Lange Lecture honors the founder of the Oblate Sisters of Providence, the first African-American religious congregation.
The Lecture highlights the University's ongoing commitment to anti-racism as well as uplifting and recognizing the works and achievements of Black Catholics.
DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. KEYNOTE LECTURE
For more than 20 years, Villanova has celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. King with a series of events and programs designed to highlight continuing injustices, while also celebrating those individuals and organizations that challenge and overcome them.
CIVITAS DEI MEDAL
Every year, Villanova honors Catholics who have made exemplary contributions to the Catholic intellectual tradition.
This year's recipient is Peter C. Phan, PhD, DPhil, STD, the inaugural Ignacio Ellacuría Chair of Catholic Social Thought at Georgetown University.
