INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is home to a community of male-identifying fraternities that are committed to leadership, service, scholarship and brotherhood. Together, these organizations work to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages personal growth and lifelong connection. IFC promotes unity across its chapters while upholding shared values that guide members in and out of the classroom: integrity, accountability, respect. Whether you're looking to lead service initiatives, grow as a student leader or find a sense of belonging, IFC offers a meaningful way to get involved.

HOW TO JOIN

All students must have completed at least one full semester at Villanova or have transferred to Villanova with at least one semester of credits to be eligible for recruitment or intake.

Students hoping to participate in the recruitment process must have at least a 2.7 cumulative GPA. Although this is the minimum GPA required to participate in recruitment, it does not guarantee membership—many chapters maintain their own GPA requirements.

All students must also be in good disciplinary standing with the University to participate in recruitment or intake processes.

PNMs must also complete a bystander intervention training through the Office of Health Promotion before participating in any formal recruitment or intake process.

Fall recruitment is an informal, chapter-led process. Chapters that choose to participate host their own recruitment events and work with the IFC Executive Board and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life to coordinate their recruitment and new member education processes.

Not all IFC chapters participate in fall recruitment or conduct a fall new member process. Students interested in exploring fall opportunities are encouraged to follow recognized chapters on social media, connect with chapter members at the Student Involvement Fair and attend other IFC- or chapter-sponsored events.

During the fall semester, the IFC Executive Board also hosts IFC 101 sessions for students interested in learning more about the fraternity community and the fall and spring joining processes.

Spring recruitment, also known as primary recruitment, is a semi-structured process.

The 1.5-to-2-week process includes council- and chapter-sponsored events and concludes with Bid Day. Following Bid Day, the Free Agency period opens, and eligible chapters have the autonomy to continue meeting interested students and extending invitations to membership, commonly known as bids.
