Faculty Reading Groups

VITAL regularly hosts Faculty Reading Groups that invite faculty to explore and discuss pedagogical research, pertinent teaching, learning and assessment topics such as student mental health and AI. These 75-minute interdisciplinary discussions provide a collegial forum to share and reflect on teaching experiences and consider how the readings might inform our individual teaching practice and motivate change.

These groups generally meet multiple times per semester, and physical copies of the book are often provided to early registrants. Recent offerings include: Mind Over Monsters (2023) by S. Cavanagh and The Opposite of Cheating (2025) by T. Bertram Gallant & D. Rettinger. Schedules and registration will be available on this page.
