Identity Governance and Administration Platform (SailPoint)

Overview

In line with Villanova’s Identity and Access Management modernization efforts, Technology Services is implementing SailPoint Identity Security Cloud (ISC) as our Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) platform. This will improve operational efficiency while strengthening security and regulatory oversight.

What is Identity Governance and Administration?

Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) is the intersection of efficiency and organizational collaboration. It ensures the right individuals have the right access to the right resources at the right time for the right reasons.

Features & Benefits

Implementing an IGA system allows Villanova to move away from fragmented, manual access processes toward a standardized, policy-driven governance model.

• Automate setup, update, and removal of accounts as people join the University, change roles, or leave
• Create clear, role-based access aligned to job and academic responsibilities
• Implement identity verification and proofing for account claiming (and other high-risk identity events) to ensure the right person is activating the right account
• Provide easy self-service tools for managing groups and access

Timeline

To minimize ongoing maintenance, the project timeline is organized by phase and month ranges:

• January - June 2026: Planning and foundation
• July - September 2026: SailPoint implementation kickoff, identity data integration layer decision, and IAM Working Group establishment
• October - December 2026: Transition, testing, and MyNova improvement
• Spring 2027: SailPoint go live and Boomi decomissioning
