Villanova’s College of Professional Studies (CPS) has a new dean: the Rev. David Cregan, OSA, PhD, ’89 CLAS, a skilled leader dedicated to the Augustinian academic tradition, with a particular focus on adult learners.

“We are fortunate to have such an experienced and knowledgeable leader for the College of Professional Studies,” says University President the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, ’75 CLAS. “Father Cregan brings a deep commitment to Villanova’s mission and is passionate about the transformative power of education at all levels.”

Father Cregan was previously the associate dean of Academic Affairs and Strategic Initiatives for CPS. In that role, he led the college’s Curriculum Committee; designed and implemented the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program; and provided college leadership for faculty.

“Since arriving in the College of Professional Studies, I have been inspired, invigorated and continually uplifted by our dedicated students, staff and faculty,” says Father Cregan. “CPS is a place where aspirations are realized, and students are transformed by our professional education and our for-credit degrees and majors.”

As dean, Father Cregan succeeds Christine Kelleher Palus, PhD, who led the college for seven years before being named the University’s senior vice provost for Academics.

In his more than 20 years at the University, Father Cregan has also served as chair of the Department of Theatre and Studio Art and as artistic director for Villanova Theatre. He has taught across several departments and programs at Villanova, and his scholarly focus encompasses theatre and Irish studies.
