The Villanova University Department of Theatre offers a
Master of Arts degree and a graduate certificate in practical theatre.
Both programs are taught by award-winning faculty who work in the
theatre industry directing, writing, designing, acting, and producing.
Theatre department faculty, in conjunction with a full-time staff,
produce a four-show season of plays; students enrolled in the M.A. and
graduate certification programs participate in the theatre season in the
areas of acting, stage management, dramaturgy, public relations, scenic
and costume construction, and technical theatre support. To pursue the M.A. degree
in theatre or the graduate certificate in practical theatre, you must
have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a
strong academic record. Students matriculate into the program from a
wide variety of undergraduate majors, spanning the humanities and the
sciences. The result is a vibrant, diverse community of scholars with
passion for theatre as a common denominator. GRE scores are required for
all applicants.
