Graduate Student Funding Opportunities

Below you will find a list of funding opportunities available to graduate students across the University. Please note that these funding opportunities come in several forms and you should make sure you understand the type of position to which you are applying:

  • Graduate Assistant Hourly (GAH) (hourly pay only, no tuition or stipend)

IMPORTANT: The majority of Villanova’s funding opportunities for graduate students come from the departments, and most graduate programs on campus have departmental funding. The positions listed on this page require a separate application process, and are outside of academic departments in various centers, offices, and institutes across campus. Please read the descriptions, deadlines, and application requirements listed here carefully—especially since each one is different.

Please keep in mind that if you are an applicant to a graduate program and have not yet received an admission decision you can proceed in applying to the below positions. However, if you are not admitted to the graduate program of your choice at any point during the application process for the below funding opportunities your application for funding will no longer be considered.
 

   

SUMMER 2026 OPENINGS

  • Description: The College of Professional Studies (CPS) is looking for enthusiastic undergraduate mentors to support the Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA), an immersive program that gives high school students a firsthand look at college life. As a mentor, you’ll work on a team to help build a positive, engaging experience for students while developing your own leadership and community-building skills.
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Assist the Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA) team with the development and implementation of engaging and educational activities for high school and incoming college students.
    • Abide by and uphold program policies; address safety and community concerns as they arise and refer to campus partners when appropriate.
    • Live in the residence hall and supervise students throughout the duration of the program.
    • Lead and participate in social activities—both on and off campus—as part of the program experience.
    • Co-facilitate one section of PCAC 1000 by developing and leading workshops focused on personal growth and community service, as well as grading assignments and providing constructive feedback.
    • Build strong mentor–mentee relationships to offer consistent guidance, encouragement, and support.
    • Conduct individual and group academic coaching to strengthen academic skills and reinforce classroom learning.
    • Guide students in effective time-management strategies, the creation of personalized study plans, and the development of organizational skills essential for college success.
    • Provide homework and assignment support across a variety of subject areas.
    • Maintain knowledge of campus resources and refer students appropriately when additional support is needed.
  • Eligibility: Work study preferred but open to all students.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Currently enrolled as a Villanova undergraduate student, maintaining a clear student conduct record and strong academic performance.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor and effectively guide peers.
    • Genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of high school and incoming college students.
    • Proactive, adaptable, and equipped with excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Selected candidates will be required to obtain federal and state pre-employment clearances to work with minors, as well as any additional certifications deemed necessary.

  • Description: During the summer months, the Office of Conference Services (OCS) employs Conference Facilities Assistants (CFAs) to work with operations and reservations functions for conference, camp and guest groups using Villanova’s meeting, dining, housing, catering, and recreation facilities.
    Please Note: Candidates must be able to work between May 12th-August 7th. Also, each position comes with a housing accommodation and meal plan.
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Lifting bed frames, inserting/removing bed pins, and ensuring beds are stable and secure.
    • At the beginning of the summer conduct room inspections of all residence hall rooms that will be occupied by OCS guests to monitor the bed heights.
    • At the beginning of the summer adjust the bed height to fall within the pre-determined safe bed height for minors.
    • At the end of the summer conduct room inspections of all residence hall rooms that were occupied by OCS guests to monitor the bed heights.
    • At the end of the summer adjust the bed height to fall within the pre-determined residence life approved height for the college students.
    • Prepare guest housing accommodations to assure Conference Services standards by distributing bed linens, blankets, towels, lined trash cans, and assorted room toiletries (soap, shampoo/conditioner, toilet paper).
    • Prepare rooms for guest groups to include linen exchange, checking room inventory, making beds with provided linen if applicable, etc.
    • Conduct breakdowns of apartments and dorms, meeting spaces, lounge spaces, and recreation spaces in accordance with Conference Services standards, by collecting bed linens, blankets, towels, lined trash cans, assorted room toiletries (soap, shampoo/conditioner, toilet paper), tables, chairs, supplies, and other materials.
    • Conduct pre-check-in room inspections and do a building walk-through with camp/meeting planners.
    • Prepare for guest registrations and scheduled group meetings by delivering tables, chairs, supplies, and materials and setting up rooms.
    • Prepare meeting spaces, lounge spaces, or recreation spaces to assure Conference Services standards and meet group specifications and set-up requirements.
    • Communicate regularly with guests. Solicit information from guests about problems. Follow up with resolutions to the problems and/or refer guests to the appropriate department if further follow-up is necessary.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Completes assigned job tasks, Reliability, Attention to detail, Verbal communication skills, Adaptability, Team player, Enthusiastic, Responsible.
    • Basic familiarity with tablets and laptops.
    • Physically able to lift and maneuver bed parts (up to ~50 lbs).
    • Comfortable using basic hand tools (e.g., rubber mallet or wrench).
    • Able to follow simple instructions.
    • Must wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing for physical work.

  • Description: The Lepage Center offers funding for Villanova undergraduate and graduate students to develop their professional skills with paid summer internships. We partner with historical organizations across the country, providing Lepage interns with first-rate experiences working on projects that serve the public interest.

Internships are open to current and graduating students. Interns work full-time (35 hours per week) for at least eight weeks. The stipend for undergraduate internships is $5,000 while graduate interns receive $6,000. Stipends are intended to cover housing, travel and daily living expenses.

FALL 2026 OPENINGS

  • Description: The Graduate Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has established an assistantship in Gender and Women’s Studies, tenurable for two years by a student admitted to the master’s program in one of the following departments or programs: Classical Studies, Communication, Counseling, Education, English, Hispanic Studies, History, Human Resource Development, Liberal Studies, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Political Science, Public Administration, Psychology, Theatre, or Theology. The assistantship is designed to attract outstanding students who are committed to Gender and Women’s Studies and to highlight the strength of our faculty resources across the humanities and social sciences. Because the Gender and Women’s Studies program at Villanova University emphasizes the links between theory and practice and the relationship between academic learning and its applications, we expect the holder of the assistantship to be an active and knowledgeable member of the GWS community. Graduate students who plan to enroll in the Gender and Women’s Studies Graduate Certificate program will receive special consideration. Candidates should have demonstrable administrative skills, including facility with programs such as Word and Canva, as well as interest and ability in maintaining the program’s web page, blog, and social media. The Gender and Women’s Studies Graduate Assistant will pursue a master’s degree in a participating department or program while providing twenty hours per week of programmatic, administrative, and office support to the undergraduate program in Gender and Women’s Studies. The assistant will receive tuition remission for all courses taken in the Graduate Division of Liberal Arts and Sciences up to the number of credits required for the master’s degree and a stipend for the nine‑month academic year.

  • Description: The Graduate Assistant (GA) focused on Professional Development and Internships in The Ellis Center | Office for Professional Development in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) will help to direct the Peer Career Coaching Program, which includes hiring, onboarding, training, supervising, and evaluating the success of undergraduate peer career coaches who meet one-on-one with fellow students to provide peer career professional development support.   Additionally, the GA will meet with undergraduate students to discuss their personal career and professional development goals to provide individual résumé and other professional correspondence reviews, help students to understand why networking and mentorship matter and can benefit their career growth, and work with students to craft career plans based on their unique educational and professional pursuits. The GA will also attend virtual and in-person student career and professional development events, and often help to plan and organize them, as well as complete other related tasks as assigned, supporting administrative and communication needs of the Office for Professional Development. In addition, the GA is expected to:  Assist with presentations to classes, clubs, and organizations.  Help with communication, promotional, and outreach efforts.  Maintain strict confidentiality. Review semesterly data to make informed decisions on growth of Peer Career Coaching program. Participate in meetings, training sessions, and one-on-one supervision meetings.  Provide Front Desk including administrative and communication support as needed for the Office for Professional Development in the main office suite.  Represent The Ellis Center, Office for Professional Development at special on-campus events as needed.   • Description: The CPS Academic Advising Team is accepting applications for a postgraduate, part-time internship. This unique opportunity is geared towards individuals with a strong interest in exploring a career in higher education, specifically in academic advising and student support services. The Academic Advising Intern will be a full member of the Advising Team, supporting a caseload of students and contributing meaningfully to the various projects, events, and initiatives put forth by the Advising Team and the College of Professional Studies. As a result of this program, the Intern will develop an understanding of prominent student development theories and academic advising approaches through both hands-on experience and targeted professional development opportunities. They will cultivate a personal advising philosophy to guide their work across the higher education landscape.

60% STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

  • Serve as an Academic Concierge for all CPS students
  • As the bridge from acceptance to enrollment, liaise between new students and advisors, assist with the onboarding of new students
  • Routinely check in with specific groups of students throughout the semester, addressing logistical and administrative barriers and refer students to appropriate resources
  • Collaborate with Advising and Admissions colleagues in the transfer credit evaluation process
  • Regularly monitor and edit content for student-facing advising information and messaging for consistency and accuracy
  • Oversee advising email account by responding to emails, sending announcements, and triaging messages as needed
  • Assist Advising Team with programming, such as Orientation, Commencement, and various student-focused events
  • Maintain tracking documents to ensure accurate data collection
  • Engage in benchmarking research to ensure the team’s efforts and services are aligned with institutional goals, higher education trends, and academic advising scholarship
  • Develop ethical advising practices in record-keeping, FERPA compliance, navigation of difficult conversations, and administrative processes
  • Assist Advising Team in daily tasks and attend meetings when appropriate

25% ACADEMIC ADVISING

  • Oversee a caseload of assigned students:
    • Meet one-on-one with students via individual advising appointments, establishing rapport and maintaining regular communication, assisting academic program and career exploration, supporting registration, and referring students to a network of campus resources, when appropriate

10% INDUSTRY/COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

  • Collaborate with teams in CPS and across the University to understand the collective nature of advising and student support
  • Work with Academic Advising Team and campus partners, when applicable, on development and coordination of courses/events
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities and/or associations
  • Represent the Advising Team and CPS at various campus events sponsored by CPS and/or the University

5% ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Description: The Graduate Assistant for Campus Programs will serve as a member of the three-person Campus Programming team which is comprised of the Assistant Director for Campus Programs and two Graduate Assistants for Campus Programs. Together, this team will be responsible for providing late night programming on campus through coordinated efforts from the Office of Student Involvement. Additionally, the Graduate Assistant for Campus Programs assists in the advising of Villanova University’s student run programming board (Campus Activities Team – “CAT”) that is responsible for large and small scale, alcohol free, and/or alternative late-night programming for the undergraduate Villanova University community. The Office of Student Involvement is an exciting and busy work environment with multiple peak periods of work activity across the calendar year. Due to the timing of programming, it is to be expected that meetings and events will be scheduled beyond traditional work hours. The Graduate Assistant is expected to work into evenings and on weekends throughout the academic year. This GA will also be responsible for assisting with the oversite of Villanova’s “Senior Week”, under the direction of the Assistant Director, and will assist with other large-scale programming initiatives sponsored by the Office of Student Involvement including Welcome Week, Family Weekend, and high-risk weekend programming.
