Villanova Law’s 11th Annual Katherine Del Raso ’12 CLAS, ’16 JD/MBA Fashion Law Symposium will provide a comprehensive explanation of the use of artificial intelligence in fashion. As AI continues to advance rapidly, even the most sophisticated general counsel and legal teams will be hard-pressed to keep up with the evolving legal landscape. The fashion and luxury industries face critical legal issues, including intellectual property infringement in design, data privacy and biometrics, marketing transparency, personality rights and likeness, brand protection and AI governance.
Artificial intelligence has the potential to improve many aspects of legal practice, such as increasing the speed at which tasks are completed and improving productivity. AI also presents significant challenges, including protecting confidential client information, ensuring accurate outputs and mitigating security, IP and privacy risks. While the current administration seems poised to ease regulatory scrutiny on AI, much remains uncertain about its approach. Meanwhile, federal inaction is likely to invite more assertive policymaking at the state and local levels, with a focus on safety, bias, privacy and sensitive use cases. Finally, the proliferation of AI agents that can perform complex actions on behalf of consumers will raise new challenges for legal compliance and liability.
The Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board has approved this symposium for 3 Substantive and 1 Ethics CLE credits. Please note that registration for this event is required.
