Villanova Law welcomes Bradford Colbert, professor of law and co-director of the Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners Clinic at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, for a fireside chat as he reflects on a career at the intersection of criminal defense, civil rights, clinical legal education and community advocacy. This conversation will explore how advocates and legal educators respond to moments of crisis, including the recent federal immigration enforcement surge in Minnesota and what it means to train lawyers committed to justice in real time.

About Bradford Colbert
Bradford Colbert teaches Mitchell Hamline’s Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners (LAMP) Clinic and practices as a part-time public defender for the Minnesota Public Defender’s Office. Colbert has received several awards in recognition of his clinical work, including the William E. McGee Public Defender Award of Excellence 2005 and was named Minnesota Lawyer Attorney of the Year in 2014 for his service to juveniles serving life in prison without parole. In Minnesota v. Carter, he argued before the Minnesota and United States Supreme Courts, advocating for Fourth Amendment protections regarding the right to privacy to extend to temporary guests.
