Biography

Julia Stern (she/her) is a reference librarian and legal research instructor who teaches law students fundamental skills for research and legal practice. She also works closely with faculty on course development and scholarship. Stern earned a JD from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in library and information science from the University of Arizona.

Prior to joining Villanova Law, Stern worked as a legal research and instruction librarian at Suffolk University Law School. She also served as an AmeriCorps VISTA with the Native American Development Corporation, an Indigenous nonprofit organization in Montana, and as a legal fellow with the Ohio Innocence Project, where she saw two clients released during her tenure.

Her previous work has focused on anti-discrimination policy and research, Indigenous and human rights and the social and psychological factors that contribute to oppression. She has previously taught professional continuing legal practice workshops, AI and legal research workshops, advanced legal research workshops, human rights research in conjunction with the Human Rights Project and 1L legal research and practice skills at Suffolk University.
