Daniel ’93 and Christine Kraninger ’93 CLAS, P’21, ’23, ’27 Make $1 Million Gift to Create the Kraninger Family Scholarship Match Program for CLAS Students

Villanovans open doors for each other. Whether supporting academic opportunities, helping students network, providing career guidance or literally holding a door open at the Connelly Center, Villanovans help Villanovans.

Now, a $1 million gift from Dan ’93 and Christine ’93 Kraninger will create a matching gift program that will “hold the door open” for potential donors, enabling them to endow new scholarships for Villanova undergraduates in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS).

The Kraninger Family Scholarship Match Program is the first-of-its-kind scholarship match for CLAS. It will have a profound impact on generations of deserving students, with the potential to inspire 20 new endowed scholarships that would be awarded in perpetuity to academically talented CLAS undergraduates with demonstrated need.

Donors who are motivated to establish an endowed scholarship and make a pledge of $75,000 or more will receive $50,000 in matching funds through the Kraninger Match Program. With the match, these new donors will be able to meet the necessary minimum to create an endowed scholarship as well as the additional funds needed to activate the scholarship immediately, while they continue to fund their endowment over five years. Under this program, donors will also have the opportunity to name their endowed scholarship fund.

As engaged alumni and parents of three Villanovans, the Kraningers know firsthand the transformative impact of a Villanova education and the enduring value of staying connected to the University community. With this gift—their second major investment in scholarships at Villanova—the Kraningers are making it possible for other donors to philanthropically engage in an opportunity that allows them to build meaningful relationships with generations of student recipients. Every contribution made will unlock additional funding in the form of a match through the Kraningers’ gift, extending reach and multiplying impact.
