Villanova University Refreshes Women’s Leadership Development Certificate Program with New Four-Day Format
The Anne Welsh McNulty Institute for Women’s Leadership, in partnership with the College of Professional Studies (CPS) at Villanova University, has updated its annual Women’s Leadership Development Certificate (WLDC) program to better fit the needs of its students. Designed for those building on their experience and intending to step forward into a leadership mindset, the WLDC program will now take place over a four-day immersive residential learning experience at the Inn at Villanova. The program will launch in its new format in 2027, running from April 18 to 22, 2027.
Previously, the program was built around three weekend sessions. In its new structure, the WLDC program is more accessible to those with career or life commitments yet still provides the chance to step away from daily responsibilities and embrace a transformative educational opportunity.
“The residential aspect of our program has always been critical to the learning process for our students,” said Dr. Terri Boyer, Director of the McNulty Institute. “Being on-site builds a connection between a cohort of learners and our instructors and speakers, while fostering an environment designed for reflective learning and conversation. We’re very excited to now offer that same environment in the amount of time you might take to attend a conference or other event.”
The new format also enriches the investment for those willing to travel to Villanova. The requirement to attend only one residency reduces the recurring expenses for a student or their employer. Critically, the work occurring prior to and following the residency happens virtually, building connections within a cohort that extend beyond the time spent learning in person.
“Throughout the years we have offered this program, we have seen time and time again our cohorts creating lifelong connections,” Boyer said. “That bond is rooted in the time spent supporting each other in their development and grows as each student takes what they have learned and applies it to their career or other endeavors.”
Students completing the Women’s Leadership Development Certificate depart the program with more than just new leadership knowledge. They cultivate an understanding of their own authentic leadership approach and a plan for advancing into leadership opportunities with intention.
Interested students can now apply to join the Spring 2027 cohort or attend an upcoming virtual information session to learn more.
