In My Own Words: Rome Hardaway CPS ‘26 on the Long, Hard-Fought Journey to a Degree

Rome Hardaway CPS ’26 reflects on a long, hard-fought path to earning his Villanova degree, a journey that began in Southwest Philadelphia and continued across decades of financial setbacks, family responsibilities and unfinished dreams. Now a husband, father and Director of Truancy and Attendance in the Chester Upland School District, he sees his hard-earned degree as both a personal milestone and a message to the young people he serves: it is never too late to continue learning, pursue a dream and build a life of purpose and service.
