Nomination Criteria
The Pope Leo XIV Sustainability Medal celebrates extraordinary contributions to environmental stewardship, social equity and the protection of our common home.
This prestigious award honors individuals and organizations across all sectors, regardless of race, religion or gender. We welcome nominations for academics, social leaders, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), scientific consortia, corporations and governments whose work demonstrates outstanding leadership in sustainability and climate justice.
The Medal recognizes individuals or groups whose achievements align with one or more of the following foundational pillars:
- Aid to the Vulnerable: Significant sustainability and climate justice achievements that actively protect, support and uplift the world's most vulnerable populations.
- Academic & Practical Excellence: Exceptional academic research paired with impactful, real-world practical application in the fields of sustainability and climate justice.
- Faith-Based Collaboration: Profound achievements in advancing sustainability and climate justice through dedicated work with and within communities of faith.
