Empty doesn't mean safe!
Even empty cylinders remain pressurized.
Please return all unwanted pressurized gas cylinders to VU EH&S, whether they are empty or not.
Helium is often sold in pressurized containers labeled as "disposable" or "recyclable". While technically both are true, it may be unsafe to throw these cylinders in a trash or recycling bin, even when empty. Instead of throwing away these containers on campus, please return them to VU EH&S, or submit a work request to have them picked up for safe recycling/disposal.
