RECREATION & FITNESS

A wealth of indoor and outdoor recreational spaces—open to all Villanova students, faculty and staff—are available at the Cabrini Campus.

DIXON CENTER AND NERNEY PAVILION

The 100,000-square-foot Dixon Center and Nerney Pavilion serve as the recreational hub of the Cabrini Campus. The building features an indoor pool, basketball courts, a group fitness studio, exercise equipment, a weight room and a suspended running track. Outdoor recreational facilities include basketball, tennis, volleyball and pickleball courts.

Regardless of which campus they reside on, Villanovans have full access to the Dixon Center, Nerney Pavilion and other recreation and fitness facilities on the Cabrini Campus. Villanova's club and intramural sports teams will use Cabrini spaces for games and practices.

Villanova Field Hockey also will have a new home on the Cabrini Campus.

2,000+ Undergraduate and Graduate Students
are taking classes at Cabrini Campus this fall semester with every undergraduate class year represented.

taking classes on the Cabrini Campus live on the Villanova Campus or off campus.

HONORING OUR CATHOLIC HERITAGE

Mother Cabrini Statue on the Cabrini Campus

Building names on the Cabrini Campus honor the heritage of St. Augustine and Mother Cabrini. The Student Center is named Cascia Hall after St. Rita of Cascia, an Augustinian nun, and student study spaces is housed in Tagaste Hall, named after the North African city that was the birthplace of St. Augustine. Two residence halls—Francesca and Xavier Halls—both honor St. Frances Xavier Cabrini (Mother Cabrini, who was born Maria Francesca Cabrini). Additional buildings are named in honor of Augustinian friars and nuns.

EXPANDING THE VILLANOVA EXPERIENCE

The unique community spirit that makes Villanova University a “new home” for students extends to the Cabrini Campus, where Villanovans will discover the Augustinian Catholic ideals of veritas, unitas and caritas in all aspects of campus life. The same rigorous academics, vibrant extracurricular activities, commitment to service and caring atmosphere feature prominently in our new facilities and halls, and students will find their physical and mental well-being supported as strongly as it is on the Villanova Campus. REVITALIZING OUR NEW HOME

Villanova spent two years addressing infrastructure updates and renovation work on the Cabrini Campus, creating a full Villanova experience for all community members who live, work, study and visit the new campus. Projects included full renovations to provide a new student center, classroom and residence hall updates, technology upgrades for a seamless IT experience and landscape enhancements, among many others.

Supporting Villanova's Strategic Mission

The Cabrini Campus furthers the goals of the University's Strategic Plan and the Espiritus Nova comprehensive campaign by enhancing Villanova’s campus to foster collaboration and innovation. The University received a $5 million gift to help fund the Cabrini Campus revitalization from Andy ’86 CLAS and Kayellen Reisinger.

Preserving Mother Cabrini's Legacy

As the Augustinians were in the early years of establishing Villanova College in Pennsylvania, Frances Cabrini was growing up in a small Italian village near Milan in the 1850s. Over the course of the next decades, Villanova’s founders expanded their educational mission, and Mother Cabrini, as she came to be known, worked her way to the United States to establish schools, founding the Institute of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.Mother Cabrini was canonized in 1946 and was named patron saint of immigrants in 1950, in honor of her dedication to the needs of Italian immigrants in her early years in New York City. Mother Cabrini’s dedication to education led to her namesake institution being founded in Radnor in 1957.

A Sustainable Effort

Among the many logistical matters Villanova needed to address with the Cabrini Campus renovation was responsible deployment and disposal of equipment, materials and furniture. Villanova staff got to work to find ways to reuse and recycle as much as possible. Through these efforts, not only did these items escape the landfill, but they also found new homes with Villanova offices and local, regional and international nonprofit organizations.
