VIDEO BRANDING

Videos are a way to encourage Wildcat pride through bold images, emotional music and exciting cameos from students, faculty, staff and alumni. Read below about ways to stay true to Villanova's brand when creating affiliated video content.

Script/Transcript Creation

Having a script or storyboard prepared before filming is recommended. A script provides a framework for storytelling and narrative direction, in addition to serving as a reference for Accessibility/ADA purposes such as creating open or closed captioning and having a text transcript. (See section our page on Accessibility/ADA.)

Brand Introduction

Introduce the Villanova brand in the first five seconds of the video. For example, include “Villanova University” and your program’s name visually and/or in your script. This will ensure that viewers watching on social sharing sites with “sound off” know this is a Villanova video.

Tips

  • Using Start and End Cards: Depending on the type of video project (e.g., single video or series of videos), consider making the first and/or last frame(s) of the video(s) contain the Villanova logo, your program’s name and call to action (e.g. tagline, web address, etc.).
  • Using Top or Lower-Third Descriptors: The lower-third is a graphic added to the bottom of video often identifying the subject on screen. Please place text so that it leaves enough space for closed captions.
