How is success defined at Villanova?
At Villanova, success is about both what you do and how you do it.
The "what" is your role and responsibilities, outlined in your job description and goal plans.
The "how" is the way we carry out our work in alignment with Villanova's values. This is guided by two important resources: the Competency Model and the Code of Conduct.
The Competency Model describes the behaviors and skills that help us bring Villanova's Augustinian values to life at work. It provides clear expectations for how we work, collaborate, and support our community.
The Code of Conduct outlines our shared expectations for ethical behavior, respect and professionalism. It helps create a community where everyone feels valued, safe and supported.
How is success measured at Villanova?
Measuring success requires a meaningful Performance Management Process. One that helps staff and managers understand expectations, recognize achievements and support professional growth.
A new Performance Management Platform will launch in early October. The new interface - hosted on Bridge, the system that current hosts Learn@Nova - will bring together performance management and learning opportunities in one place. This makes it easier to set goals, receive feedback, track progress and support ongoing development.
How do I grow at Villanova?
The purpose of defining and measuring success is to support every staff member to learn, develop, and grow.
Two ways we're supporting staff growth are through focused learning resources and clearer pathways for career development.
In addition to our existing learning resources, Villanova Professional Skills Packs are now available for staff. Pro Packs are learning toolkits that focus on a key workplace skill connected to the competencies that define success at Villanova.
A new staff job architecture (launching early 2027) will enhance career development by providing better understanding of career paths, transferable skills and opportunities across the University.
