Program Overview

The APP Preceptor Program at Villanova stands apart as the only fully integrated, academically grounded, interactive training experience designed specifically for Advanced Practice Providers. Blending evidence‑based teaching principles, real‑time mentorship, reflective practice and a comprehensive Preceptor Toolkit, this program equips APPs not just to precept but also to lead, mentor and elevate clinical education in their organizations.

Course Objectives

At the completion of the course, the participant will be prepared to:

  • Describe the roles and responsibilities of a nurse preceptor
  • Apply adult learning theory to clinical teaching
  • Demonstrate effective communication and feedback strategies
  • Address common preceptorship challenges with evidence-based solutions
  • Design individualized orientation plans for new Advanced Practice Provider

Program Highlights

Format: Online with interactive modules and live Zoom sessions

Duration: 6 weeks (September 14 – October 25, 2026)

Orientation: September 9, 2026 (12:00 - 1:00 via Zoom)

Live Sessions: Wednesday 9/16; 10/7 & 10/21/26  (12–1 PM EST)

$349/participant (15% discount for professional partners)

Participant Requirements

Each participant can expect to spend four hours per week on: reading relevant resources, sharing ideas in response to questions posed, and reading and responding to other participants' posts. Performance is measured using a non-graded rubric established by the faculty.

Participants MUST attend all three synchronous sessions, submit all three discussion board post as stated in the rubric, and complete and submit all evaluations to receive a certificate of completion.
