FIRST-YEAR HOUSING ASSIGNMENTS

The Office for Residence Life welcomes you to Villanova University! Here are instructions and helpful tips for completing your First-Year Housing Application.
Please note the following before starting your Housing Application:
- The Housing Application will be open from Monday, May 4-Sunday, May 31, 2026.
- Your Housing Application is considered submitted once you sign it.
- You may return to the Housing Application to make changes anytime prior to the May 31 deadline. No changes can be made after the deadline.
- First-year student housing assignments will be emailed to students and available to view in the Housing Portal in late July.
- First-year students will live in single, double, triple and quad rooms in traditional residence halls on all areas of the Villanova Campus.
- Assignments are randomly generated and are not based on the student's Admission cycle or when the application is submitted.
To access your Housing Application:
- Click the blue "HOUSING APPLICATION" button above to log in using your Villanova-issued user ID and password.
- Please note that this login differs from the username and password you used to track your application in the Applicant Status Portal. You should have received your Villanova-issued user ID in an email shortly after submitting your deposit.
- If you experience issues logging in using your user ID, please contact Villanova's Help Desk at 610-519-7777. Once logged in, if you are having issues accessing the application, please email us.
- Click Housing Application in the blue banner at the top of the page.
- Click Apply for Academic Year 2026-2027.
- Complete all steps up to the Housing Agreement signed page.
Incoming first-year students are not required to select a roommate to complete their Housing Application. Students who do not select a roommate can be assigned a roommate or roommates based on their answers on our Lifestyle Questionnaire.
If you have not yet identifed a roommate or roommates for the 2026-27 academic year, the Housing Application contains several search functions to help you connect with potential roommates.
If you have already identified a roommate or roommates you would like to live with during the 2026-27 academic year, you may request them in your Housing Application. Please note that you will not be able to add a student/students as your roommate(s) until they have started their own Housing Application.
To select a roommate(s), you must first search for and select their name(s) on the Roommate Selection Page. There are three ways to search for and add a roommate(s):
- By Details: This allows you to use details, such as first or last name, to find your preferred roommate(s). We recommend you input only one identifying detail to search for and find someone. Be sure that your spelling and information are correct.
- By Profiles: This feature is based off of the Lifestyle Questionnaire and allows you to identify specific areas that are most important to you in a roommate. You will be provided with a percentage match, and you can then send a message to your potential roommate(s).
- By Suggested Roommates: This feature is based off of the overall Lifestyle Questionnaire.
Once you have searched for and selected your roommates, you must create a Verified Roommate Group to confirm your selection(s).
- Click Roommate Selection; then:
- Select Add to Group to add someone to your group (this will make you the "group leader"); or
- Select Join Group to join a group that has already been created by your "group leader."
- Please note that requested roommates must approve the roommate request before the roommate is able to officially join the roommate group.
- Once all requests have been accepted, the "group leader" must then return to the Housing Application to Verify the group.
You can send messages to your potential roommate(s) through the Housing Application. Send and view your messages by clicking on the drop-down menu next to the Home button and clicking Messages.
You do not have to select a roommate group if you are trying to obtain a single room (based on limited availability) or would like to be placed with a random roommate(s). Random roommates are based off of the lifestyle questionnaire and building preferences.
First-year students interested in participating in Communitas (Villanova's first-year living and learning community) or planning to live in Honors housing will have the opportunity to complete the Communitas or Honors interest forms in the Housing Application. Please note that you will not be able to change these preferences after the May 31 Housing Application deadline.
