Building Sustainability
Villanova strives to meet and exceed building sustainability standards in all new construction and to improve existing structures while keeping the care for Creation in mind.
One of the primary ways that Villanova works towards our sustainable goals is by building to LEED specifications—ten buildings currently hold LEED-certification. In addition to LEED certification, Villanova looks for other ways to improve our building stocks energy and water efficiency, as well as their contribution to building occupants’ health. These measures include lighting retrofits, building commissioning, low VOC paints, recycled and locally sourced furniture and carpeting, water efficient fixtures, and more.
Efficiency Projects include:
Additionally, Villanova uses low VOC (volatile organic compound) paints and eco-friendly cleaning solutions in our campus buildings, helping to create a safe and clean environment for our community.
