UECO Education & Training
Conducting Effective Education and Training
The purpose of having a training and education program is to ensure that each employee or any other individual that functions on behalf of the University is fully capable of executing his or her role in compliance with rules, regulations, and other standards. Institutions that fail to train and educate their staff adequately risk liability for the violation of fraud and abuse laws.
Several avenues for raising awareness of standards within Villanova University include distribution of the Code of Conduct, orientation training and posting of compliance policies and procedures in the VPL.
While keeping up to date with any changes in the federal compliance program requirements and adapting its education and training program accordingly, the University Ethics & Compliance Office (UECO) will periodically evaluate the content of its education and training program and will determine whether the subject content is appropriate and sufficient to cover the range of issues confronting Villanova members. The compliance training may be presented through live instruction or via computer-based tutorials, by UECO staff and may supplement training with print materials as laws or regulations allow. The UECO will seek feedback after each session and may administer post-training testing to ensure attendees understood and retained the subject matter delivered. Other training initiatives include coordinating and presenting at Human Resources’ and VITAL’s orientation events.
The UECO will also document who has completed training and submit a fiscal year education and training report that is presented to the Stewardship Committee.
