Past Conferences

The 2024 conference drew inspiration from Pope Francis' powerful messages in Laudato Si and Laudate Deum, which emphasizes our shared responsibility to care for both the poor and the planet.

As the Global South bears the brunt of climate-related disasters, Pope Francis reminds us that we face not two separate crises—one environmental and one social—but a single, intertwined crisis. This complex challenge requires us to confront both social injustice and environmental degradation with urgency, as the world nears a potential breaking point.

This conference explored and promoted interdisciplinary solutions that engage communities in creating a safer and more just future. By encouraging multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, the conference expanded our collective understanding and empowered communities to choose pathways that promote human flourishing and sustainable development. Participants shared their research, focusing on how their work contributes to sustainable community engagement.

Key themes included a wide array of disciplines, from the arts and humanities to science and technology, each contributing to the holistic pursuit of a balanced and flourishing world.
