ADDITIONAL INSURANCE BENEFITS & SAVINGS
As a full-time faculty/staff member, you are covered for accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance.
If your death is the result of a covered accident, your beneficiary will receive an additional accidental death benefit equal to the amount of your Basic Life Insurance election. This would be the greater of 1 x salary or $50,000 unless you elected to reduce your Basic Life benefit down to $50,000 to avoid imputed income. In that case, the amount of your AD&D benefit would be an additional $50,000. If you suffer the loss of a limb or the loss of eyesight as a result of a covered accident, you will receive 100% or 50% of the AD&D benefit, depending on the extent of the loss.
All active faculty and staff employees working full-time or part-time (a minimum of 20 hours per week) are automatically covered in the event of death or injury that occurs while traveling on University business. University business includes any travel on behalf of Villanova University, regardless of location, period of time, or form of travel (air, train, etc.). This benefit will be provided to your beneficiary in the event of accidental death during business travel which occurs anywhere in the world. The policy also covers injury resulting from an accident during business travel. Please see the schedule of benefits within the policy. This coverage excludes travel to and from work.
