Academic Affairs
This job function is responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, implementation and management of all aspects of Villanova University's academic programs.

| Museum & Performing Arts | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for the administration of the Connelly Center Art Gallery, Performing Arts Center (VPAC) and management of the Theatre/Studio Art Program. |
| Program Administration | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for the administration and management of academic programs at the University. Actively develops and implements programmatic and educational opportunities within a center on campus. Supports the center's budget and financial processes, organizes office supplies and equipment, and schedules programs and events. Coordinates services and logistics for programs and events including attendee list, registration process, accommodations and arrangements, communications and marketing, and program/event space. |
| Student Academic Affairs | Positions in this sub-function work with students on an individual or in a small group manner to enhance the material provided to them in their classes in many ways including providing professional development programs, providing tutoring, performing academic coaching, advising students on academic programs and careers, and often providing holistic support for students so they can achieve their academic goals. Often these positions will interact with individual faculty, departments, and programs to assist them in helping their students learn and perform to the highest level academically. They support students across multiple colleges and levels. They often require handling complex situations within the bounds of regulations and laws. |
Administration & Operations
This job function coordinates, integrates and administers a range of diverse administrative or operational functions. Areas of responsibility include: delivering secretarial, administrative and operational support services to the institution; managing reception and mail services and providing office support; document management; managing dining services operations; managing and supporting the operations of the University Inn; analyzing and interpreting collected data; spotting trends; writing reports and recommendations; data modeling and creating data architectures; developing and enhancing the data warehouse; back-end transaction/data processing; business intelligence; institutional research.

| Banquet & Catering Services | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for activities associated with the preparation and delivery of food and beverages and service coordination to ceremonial meals for groups of people as well as food service at remote sites. Usually meals are prepared and served by a hotel or restaurant exclusively for a group. Catering activities include food preparation and delivery for different event ranges: from box-lunch drop-off to full-service catering for special events or business meetings. |
| Business Intelligence | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for performing complex data research and analysis to support business operations including: creating data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets; analysis may be applied to various areas of the business; researching and applying knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions; at higher career levels, may conduct scientific research projects with the goal of breaking new ground in data analytics. |

Activities include: business development activities, including the development of alliance/channel/network partnerships; pricing research and strategy, including cost/pricing, competitor analysis; media planning, analytics and strategy, including R.O.I. evaluation and digital marketing analytics and strategy; brand licensing activities to expand brand presence within brand-approved quality standards; e-commerce strategy, planning and management, including merchant development and support. |
| Institutional Research | Positions in this sub-function conduct studies and offer technical assistance in the support of strategic planning. This includes data analysis and managing the performance and improvement of CATS, including preparing reports and data mining. These position also collect certain externally mandated data and data for professional organizations. |
Advancement
This job function is responsible for establishing and managing effective relationships with private and public sector partners who can advance the development and fundraising function at the University.

Athletics

Facilities
This job function is responsible for managing, planning, repairing and maintaining the institution's facilities and assets. Activities include: maintaining buildings, facilities, and grounds in clean/hygienic condition.

Finance
This job function conducts the financial and accounting operations of the institution. Positions in this job function may also have responsibility for financial planning and analysis, as well as stewardship and managing financial resources (e.g., cash and investments).

Responsibilities include audit and compliance reviews, training, cash management, financial reporting and fund closeout procedures. |
| Budget | Positions in this sub-function may be responsible for determining the allocation and use of financial resources; developing business plans for individual units; and analyzing financial information and producing management reports for internal and external reporting and decision-making purposes. Information analyzed includes inventory, costs, revenue, expenditure, cash flow, profitability, operating performance, and budgets. Positions with institution-wide responsibilities develop budgets, financial plans, and financial analysis for the institution as a whole, and assess and integrate the plans of the individual units in the process. |
| Bursar | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for monitoring cash teller operations, student billing and receivables, collections and customer service. Oversees all functions of the billing, collection, deposit, disbursement, and record maintenance of student accounts. Maintains accurate financial records. |
| Financial Control | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for managing and maintaining control of the institution's financial operations, resources, and assets. Provides data/reports summarizing the institution's financial position to aid in management decision making, and may make recommendations to senior management. Includes general Financial Control and positions responsible for financial control at a property, or group of properties, in addition to cash control within offices. |
| General Finance | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for managing or performing work across multiple areas of finance, including financial planning and analysis, financial control, accounting, tax, accounts payable/receivable, and credit and collections. | Investment | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for determining investment strategy, analyzing alternative investments, and recommending appropriate investments. Prepares reports on investment transactions and status for submission to management. Determines portfolio allocation and manages cash and securities including both debt and equities. |
| Payroll | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and timely with correct withholding and deductions. Activities include: calculating overtime, shift payments, sales commissions and bonuses; accounting, distributing, and preparing taxes and deductions; maintaining payroll records; preparing reports for management or to meet legislative obligations; ensuring payments comply with collective bargaining agreements, legislation, or other regulatory instruments; preparing and distributing pay information to staff; answering questions regarding payroll matters. |
| Procurement | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for work associated with the purchasing and payment for goods and services functions of the University including the managing of all systems related to these functions within the department and for the overall University. Activities include obtaining goods and services for all types of business processes applicable to the institution including: indirect and direct operations. Activities include product/service sourcing, supplier selection, pricing/terms negotiation, order processing, contract administration, and supplier performance management. Other activities include account payables functions including invoice and expense payment approval, issuing payments and managing bank related activities pertaining to these payments, managing the procurement card program, taxes and annual reporting, and review and approval of new suppliers. |
| Risk Management | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for identifying, assessing, and reducing/mitigating risks to the institution. Activities include: characterizing potential risks and assessing vulnerability of critical assets to specific risks; risk analysis and modelling to assess probability of specific risks occurring and evaluate/value the impact/consequences of occurrence; developing process and procedures to report on, manage and mitigate risks to acceptable levels; internal and external stakeholder reporting, including regulatory reporting. |
| Student Accounts Services | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for provide billing services for students, while maintaining internal controls, ensuring financial transactions are accurately processed and proper records are documented. |
Health Services
This job function provides wellbeing care in an on-campus healthcare facility and also provides personal care services within medical and non-medical settings. Care is provided by a wide range of practitioners for which specialized training and/or education is required. Support roles for the provision of dietary services and health information are also included.

| Nursing | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for activities associated with the delivery of safe and efficient quality nursing care. Includes professionals who are trained and licensed to care for the sick and injured. Activities include the examination of patients, care for patients including the administration of prescribed medicine in order to facilitate healing and increase comfort. |
| Nutrition & Dietitian | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for providing regular and therapeutic diets and food service to patients. Activities include coordinating the preparation and serving of meals based on general or special diets; specifying of dietary requirements for patients with special restrictions or nutritional needs. |

Includes professionals who are trained and licensed to practice medicine. Activities include the examination of patients in order to diagnose and treat any medical condition(s). |
| Psychiatry | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating emotional and behavioral disorders. Activities include prescribing and administering treatments, medications, and interventions and gathering and maintaining patient documentation and medical records. |
| Psychology | Positions in this sub-function are responsible for conducting patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referral assistance. Performs crisis intervention as needed. Conducts individual and group therapy sessions and counseling. |
Human Resources
This job function supports the management of the institution's human resources by planning, administering and reviewing activities concerned with recruitment, training and development, compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, diversity, talent management & institution development and staff/labor relations.
