Villanova University President the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, has announced that Adele Lindenmeyr, PhD, the William and Julia Moulden Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, is retiring after nearly 40 years of service to Villanova University. Dr. Lindenmeyr, who has led the College since 2014, will retire in June 2028 after a sabbatical during the 2027-28 academic year.
Cardinal Czerny Named Inaugural Recipient of Villanova’s Pope Leo XIV Sustainability Medal
Villanova University has announced Cardinal Michael Czerny, SJ, as the inaugural laureate of the Pope Leo XIV Sustainability Medal, a newly established distinction recognizing outstanding leadership at the intersection of sustainability, ethics and integral human development. Pope Leo XIV will confer the distinction on Cardinal Czerny on Oct. 13, 2026, at Castel Gandolfo.
Villanova University Awards Mendel Medal to Renowned Molecular Geneticist Huda Zoghbi, MD
Villanova University has named Huda Zoghbi, MD, distinguished service professor at Baylor College of Medicine, investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and founding director of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital, as the 2026 recipient of the Mendel Medal.
Villanova University Celebrates 2026 St. Thomas of Villanova Day of Service
On Saturday, September 19, more than 4,000 Villanova University students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends will take part in the 2026 St. Thomas of Villanova Day of Service. Named for the University’s patron saint, a 16th-century Augustinian bishop who tended to the poor and marginalized, the yearly event is one of the Delaware Valley’s largest single-day service initiatives.
